An old Roman apartment, previously organised around a dark corridor, has been completely transformed into a large and light space, which generates wide and interesting perspectives by emphasizing the structure of the existing column. The red color is used to connect the different functional areas and to give a strong character to the day area. The gaze flows without interruption, following the red beams and columns, while defining the entire loft. The kitchen follows the same concept; it incorporates the existing structure and creates a strong combination between architecture and furniture design. The master bedroom has been separated from the day area through a “double skin” partition that contains the closets. The apartment has two bathrooms: the guest bathroom and the grey bathroom. The guest bathroom uses the irregular shape and structure of the building to create a modern and industrial flair. The master bathroom suggests a more intimate and private feeling through the use of cosy shapes and colors. The choice of materials creates a contrast between warm colors and textures and an industrial look. The result is a minimal but warm space that doesn’t allow useless decoration.
Un antico appartamento romano, precedentemente organizzato intorno ad un corridoio cieco, è stato completamente trasformato in uno spazio ampio e luminoso che genera prospettive che enfatizzano la struttura portante esistente. Il colore rosso è usato per collegare visivamente le diverse aree funzionali e per dare una forte caratterizzazione alla zona giorno. Lo sguardo scorre senza interruzione seguendo le travi e le colonne rosse che definiscono così l’intero loft. La cucina segue lo stesso concetto: incorpora la struttura portante esistente e crea una forte sinergia fra architettura e arredi (realizzati tutti su disegno dell’architetto). La camera da letto è separata dalla zona giorno attraverso una parete a “doppia pelle” che contiene gli armadi. L’appartamento ha due bagni: il bagno padronale e quello degli ospiti. Quest’ultimo utilizza le forme irregolari dell’edificio per creare un ambiente dal sapore industriale e moderno. Il bagno padronale suggerisce un’atmosfera più intima e privata attraverso l’uso di forme pure e colori rilassanti. La scelta dei materiali crea un contrasto fra colori caldi e finiture dallo stile essenziale. Il risultato è quello di un ambiente caldo che non lascia spazio a decorazioni superflue.
