Starting from the Echoppes Competition (winner of the Bordeaux Biennal of Architecture in 2005), this concept has followed me in many projects, while adjusting to peculiar situations, needs and dimensions.
The non.wall always both hides and connects two different interior areas while creating a circular physical and visual movement for the user. Like theatre wings, it multiplies perspectives and gives space depth. It is a wall but it doesn’t reach the ceiling, leaving the perception of the continuing space behind it. It separates two areas, but it also puts them in a tight functional and visual relation.
It is a wall but it is also a non.wall.
